St. Anne’s Recitals JULY-SEPTEMBER 2017

July 30
AFTERNOON SONG 1
In the first of three song recitals given at St. Anne’s, Soprano Milly Forrest performs Schumann’s seminal song cycle Frauenliebe und Leben. Accompanied by Melina Karagianni, she will also present a selection of English songs by Vaughan Williams and Quilter.

August 6
VIVALDI CONCERTO MACHINE
An opportunity to come and hear London’s most exciting up-and-coming Baroque-Meets-Psychedelic-Improv collective. The collective includes Keyboards, Violins, Flutes, Theorbo and Electric Guitar, reimagining music by Biber and Bach.

August 13
AFTERNOON SONG 2
Stephen Fort is a Bass Baritone post-graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music In Manchester. In the second instalment of Song and Lied at St. Anne’s, he presents a programme of Lied by Schubert and Strauss.

August 20
RAINFOREST JOURNEY
Drawing on instruments collected from a lifetime’s study and travel, Sue Shorter creates a hypnotic rainforest soundscape, also featuring African, Latin and Middle Eastern percussion, bamboo flute and goat bells.

August 27
PIANO FOCUS No. 3
Internationally-renowned German concert pianist, Valentin Schiedermair, gave his debut at the sold-out Berlin Philharmonic Hall. Now based in  London, we welcome him to St. Anne’s to give a recital of Bach, Beethoven and Chopin. [ NB this is a programme change with effect from 4th August 2017 ] 

September 3
MAHLER’S 4th SYMPHONY
In this season’s final concert we welcome back Finnegan Downie Dear to conduct the St. Anne’s Festival Orchestra in a performance of Mahler’s classically infused 4th Symphony, in an arrangement for chamber orchestra by Klaus Simon.
