Mahler : Das Lied von der Erde – 7th March

Concert Wednesday 7th March at 19.30 – Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde marks the culmination of a lifetime spent fusing the forms of song and symphony. An immensely beautiful and enigmatic work, it is here performed in a stunning chamber arrangement by Iain Farringdon, to highlight the centenary of the foundation of the Society for Private Musical Performances in Vienna, 1918. After the success of Mahler’s 4th Symphony last summer, Finnegan Downie Dear returns to conduct this concert, celebrating some of the best young singers and instrumentalists that London has to offer. The historic and atmospheric setting of St.Anne’s, Kew Green, will provide the perfect backdrop to enjoy this uniquely intimate reading of a monumental work.
